JAZZ CAB Showcase

JazzCab, our weekly cabaret series in Cabbagetown, is celebrating its first anniversary in September. To mark the occasion we're creating a new performer series, JazzCab Showcase.

On a Saturday night at the intimate 40-seat Anabella Lounge, one or two singers will perform for an evening of entertainment, backed by Whitney Smith on guitar and Jordan O’Connor on upright bass.

To prepare for the event, each performer will participate in a showcase development program. The JazzCab Showcase will bridge the gap between the casual open mic jam sessions and the pressure of a singer’s first solo public performance and leading an ensemble.

It’s not easy to make the jump from one level to another. Sometimes people miss the little steps in between. The program is designed to help the singer make the smoothest possible transition between the levels, and will include performance exercises in the recording studio that are designed to prepare for success on the live stage.

The JazzCab Showcase starts at 9:30 PM at the Anabella Lounge, 226 Carlton, just west of Parliament. Cover: $5.
